but yeah there was also a not-bad normie article a while back that was talking about the "mainstreamization" of fandom that focused more on the convention scene. I've had some fun times at conventions, and you have too - but ... dang they were just different even ten years ago. the shift was happening, but you could st least still find the scrawny halfway-put-together booth that had the gorgeous art (read: the one still totally unused to the idea that conventions could mean money).
